Overhead Accountant

As a Overhead Accountant, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Providing accurate and timely financial information and advice relating to all areas of responsibility to Business Unit and Project Managers to enable them to exercise effective financial control over the area to maximise value for money, cashflow and profitability.

Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for the production and analysis of accounts in accordance with the issued monthly timetable, as well as maintaining the integrity of data that supports the accounts maintaining full audit trails for both internal and external audit purposes:

• Production of monthly packs for management reviews in conjunction with the respective Teams.


• Run regular reviews with cost centre managers, providing strong financial advice and challenge where appropriate.


• Raising customer invoices in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with the contract terms and conditions and management information requirements.


• Monitoring KPIs.


• Forecasting future financial performance.


This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office / onsite and 2 days working from home.

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. • Excellent communication skills


• Experience of working with non-finance managers and challenging complex financial data.


• Exceptional working knowledge of Excel.


• Overhead accounting experience and / or a commercial based management accounting background is desirable but, not essential.


• Experience of IFS and / or Business Analytics is an advantage but, not necessary.


Qualifications for the Overhead Accountant:

• AAT qualified, or preferably part or fully CIMA / ACCA / ACA / ICAEW / ICAS qualified, or equivalent / similar.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
