Full Job Description

We are inviting applicants for the post of Ophthalmic Imaging Technician to join our team in assisting in the delivery of a high-quality ophthalmic imaging and diagnostic service to Oxford Eye Hospital.,

  • To assist in the delivery of core ophthalmic clinical technical and imaging

  • services to Oxford Eye Hospital.
  • To be a member of the Imaging & Diagnostic team, contributing to the

  • effective quality care of patients, respecting and maintaining confidentiality in
    all matters relating to the department and patients.
  • To support the Head of Department in service development, ensuring that

  • high clinical standards are maintained.
  • To undertake administration, data processing and clinical audit when required.

  • The post holder will develop the knowledge and skills to deliver individual

  • patient care to the standards defined by the OUH protocols and policies.
  • To have a working knowledge of computer systems and programmes.

  • To maintain their own professional development (CPD) under the supervision

  • of an Ophthalmic Imaging Specialist within the department (mentor).
  • Any other duties at the request of the Head of Department or Directorate

  • Manager.

    Working in a friendly, modern environment you'll carry out ophthalmic technical and imaging procedures including OCT, fundus photography, corneal topography, spectacle focimetry, visual field testing, visual acuity assessment, intraocular pressure testing and pupil dilatation.
    Previous experience in ophthalmic imaging or an ophthalmology setting would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given. Applicants should have a basic understanding of human anatomy and be willing to develop their theoretical and practical knowledge.
    Candidates will be expected to be comfortable working with people and have excellent communication skills. They should be computer literate and be familiar with database management. Applicants should be prepared to undertake the Certificate of Higher Education in OCT Capture.,

  • Evidence of having worked with patients/ customers

  • Willingness to undertake OCT capture course

  • Basic knowledge of Ophthalmology procedures and practice
