Full Job Description

Support the operation of the water logistics team in the safest and most cost effective way, capturing data and applying procedures in a compliant manner, whilst putting our customers at the heart of everything you do. Duties will include:

  • Health and Safety supervisory responsibility for all those involved in the delivery of water logistics and maintenance activities within the geographic operating area, including direct and subcontract workforces.

  • Responsible for ensuring that the treatment and maintenance of water supplies are undertaken to the highest expected standards and managing resources to deliver safe, clean drinking water.

  • Ensure that the operation of our water logistics fleet is undertaken in line with quality management procedures and are compliant with all relevant statutory and legislative requirements.

  • Manage the operational area to deliver the lowest cost of service in terms of operating efficiency.

  • Ensure all water logistics and maintenance activities are undertaken in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.

  • Develop an effective and motivated workforce ensuring good communication and teamwork through undertaking regular team briefings, 1-2-1s and performance development reviews.

  • Establishing a high-performance culture with appropriate training and full implementation of new ways of working required to achieve both quality improvements and cost efficiencies

  • Be an effective team player, supporting other team colleagues and promoting best practice and standardisation to improve business performance.

  • Develop, own and implement the Company's health and safety policies and procedures in relation to Working Time Directive, European Driving Hours and Company Procedures on the use of contract drivers

  • Ensure all vehicles and drivers meet the requirements of our Operators Licence (inspections, daily checks, defect reporting and rectification, management of operating centres etc.) to mitigate any regulatory risk

  • Ensure that all records are managed to satisfy financial, legislative, procedural and IMS audits

  • To provide a 24/7 effective service

  • Actively take the lead on key issues such as Health and Safety, vehicle maintenance, reactive response & repairs and managing and reducing operational costs

  • Proactively and effectively manage team performance in accordance with all current HR policies and drive productivity of the team

  • Carry out any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business

  • Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify weaknesses

  • Assist the Water Logistics Technicians with more complex issues with regards to tankering activities and take ownership through to resolution

  • Act as a point of escalation / support to other colleagues within Water Logistics and any contract drivers.

    The following experience, skills and knowledge are considered essential, unless otherwise mentioned:


  • Proven supervisory or team leader with extensive experience and able to demonstrate a track record of sector leading performance

  • Experience with reactive logistic operations

  • An excellent knowledge of transport and fleet thereby protecting DCWW Operator's Licence (statutory requirement to operate HGV fleet)

  • Good Interpersonal Skills e.g. building a rapport, listening effectively to others

  • Evident drive for results - demonstrates interest and ability to learn new things, takes initiative, welcomes problems as challenges, finds solutions to problems

  • Excellent problem solving skills.

  • Good communication skills e.g. clear and concise

  • IT Skills including Microsoft Office packages

  • Current, full valid UK driving licence

  • Ability to work flexibly


  • Good to know

  • Requirement to participate in a standby rota and within a working pattern (this will be determined by demand - Monday to Friday 7am - 7pm)

  • Car allowance (£5k) . A full and current driving license is required.
