Full Job Description

Responsible for recruiting, organising, and leading a team of comm's volunteers to fulfil our needs. This is pivotal in enhancing our profile, aiding in recruitment/fundraising and Google Workspace system effectively.

What will you be doing?

Principal Responsibilities:

1. Recruitment and Leadership:

  • Recruit, onboard, and manage the communications team.

  • Provide guidance, support, and leadership to team members.


  • 2. Communication Strategy:
  • Regularly liaise with Trustees to understand communication prioritiesfor SWR.

  • Maintain and update the SWR communication strategy and plan.


  • 3.Content Management:
  • Curate a pipeline of messages, stories, and blogs to engage SWRaudiences.

  • Select appropriate communication channels for each message/story,ensuring safeguarding and security protocols are followed.


  • 4. Image and Video Management:
  • Develop and maintain the SWR image and video library while adheringto SWR's policies on confidentiality and publicity for refugees.


  • 5. Other Tasks:
  • Fulfill additional tasks as requested by the Communications Trusteeand other members of the Trustee Board.


  • Communication Channels:
  • Quarterly meetings for volunteers, supporters, and refugees.

  • Newsletters/updates via Mailchimp and Facebook.

  • Website: 2,600 views in the last 90 days.

  • Facebook group (private): 774 members.

  • Facebook page (public): 802 followers.

  • Mailchimp: 774 subscribers.

  • Instagram: 23 followers (newly established).

  • LinkedIn: 51 followers, including local VIPs.

  • Occasional events such as the Sevenoaks Summer Fair on The Vine.


  • Current Team: SWR's current communication team comprises:
  • Website: 2 regular volunteers.

  • Facebook: 3 regular volunteers, 1 occasional volunteer.

  • Mailchimp: 1 regular volunteer, 1 occasional volunteer.

  • Instagram: No dedicated volunteers.

  • Writers: 1 occasional volunteer.

  • Graphic designers: A pool of 3 volunteers with occasional availability.

  • Events: No dedicated volunteers.
