Full Job Description

As an NSC General Manager you will assume overall responsibility for the delivery and operational processes within the National Service Centre (NSC), driving lean operational efficiencies across all areas in support of the wider Speedy business objectives and targets. You will be joining the team at an exciting time, helping to continue our growth and delivering first class customer service.
Responsible for:

  • Driving network fulfilment and engineering productivity ensuring the hire network is stocked to target, ensuring assets are delivered on time, to the correct location, to the highest quality standard, from the supply chain through to Customer delivery.

  • Daily, monthly and annual asset programming control to ensure satisfaction of internal customers

  • Develop a high performing and engaged team through effective recruitment, onboarding, continued coaching and development, performance management, and retention.

  • Develop the Company's people capability and talent pool aligned to business goals, including the identification and development of Speedy's future leaders through succession planning and PDR's all-in accordance with Speedy Career Line of sight.

  • Implementation of highly effective Logistic and warehouse function supporting the flow and distribution of assets nationally, regionally and throughout the Speedy network.

  • Ensure that the supporting workshop asset servicing activities meet all demands for Test and Run and Repair/Service creating the correct levels of asset availability

  • Implementation and enhancement of all asset tracking and IS systems across the NSC.

  • Activities delivered at or by the NSC are fully compliant with current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.

  • Facilities are serviced, maintained and function to the highest possible standard with adequate security measures in place to protect the People and Assets.

  • Financial and managerial reporting to include people, assets and processes. Supplemented through cost control and diligence, demonstrating adherence to all Speedy governance requirements

  • Establish strong working relationships with direct reports, key stakeholders, and senior sponsors

  • The design, implementation and delivery of NSC continuous improvement strategies.

    Multi Site Management experience, Engineering, Asset, Warehousing and Transport knowledge


  • Exceptional leadership, team development and people management skills

  • Experience of process optimisation in a logistics/warehousing environment with multiple product classes

  • Strong relationship building, coaching, motivation and influencing skills.

  • Direction of operational activities, asset programming and service delivery in a complex environment.

  • Technical control and management of a workshop environment

  • A thorough understanding of Lean methodologies and implementation experience in delivering world class service excellence

  • Drive and determination to develop a culture of trust, continuous improvement, such as green initiatives and self-management, delivering year on year operational improvement

  • Labour planning and employee engagement skills to ensure productivity.

  • Experience of managing multi shift work patterns


  • Desirable:
  • Complex regional operations management experience.

  • Negotiation skills and commercial acumen

  • Good working knowledge of employment related policies and procedures, including transport legislation.

  • Experience of specialist plant, power, engineering and construction businesses

  • Monitoring of NSC operational performance, quality metrics and standards improvement
