Full Job Description

We have recently created a Migration team to support new residents into Bracknell Forest communities who have arrived on Government Migration schemes, this includes schemes such as Homes for Ukraine, Hong Kong British Nationals and Afghan Relocation. To make this happen we need proactive, effective, and passionate Migration Support Officers to support new residents.

Could you be part of this team and support this vital work? The work is rapidly evolving with new data and guidance weekly. Your role will be to ensure that new residents are supported in Bracknell through guiding and support individuals and families in a whole range of areas and supporting community integration.

What it's like working in our team...

The Migration team is being established in May 2023 to bring together the Council's support across all Migration schemes. This is high priority and profile work in the council, and we are working closely to deliver the best outcomes. We have a number of subject matter experts in the team, and we work closely with staff across the organisation partners.

The team sits within the Early Help team who lead on providing support to children and families within Bracknell Forest. We also work in close partnership across several council teams and external partners.

You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities, and training...

  • To undertake and oversee comprehensive needs/risk family assessments and develop supportive interventions that reflect the needs identified in the assessment and responding appropriately to changing needs and potentially complex situations.

  • To promote the long-term integration of families in the borough by providing a range of tailored services to them, and through working with other service providers to maximise the opportunities available to them.

  • To establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure a high standard of service and safeguarding responsibilities to displaced families arriving in the borough.

  • To work with other colleagues to meet the language, career and community integration needs of refugees. This could be 1:1 support or the establishment of groups and clubs.

  • To ensuring the Council's statutory duties and agreed integration support to migrants and other displaced people are delivered effectively co-ordinating cross council support including, but not limited to, Afghans, Ukrainians, Hong Kong nationals and asylum seekers., At Bracknell Forest Council, we aim to create an inclusive, ambition and always learning workplace culture that promotes wellbeing.     We are looking for a highly self-motivated and resilient Migration Support Officer, who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will be able to work independently delivering positive outcomes through one-to-one intervention and support. As a team player, with experience of working with partners across the service, you will have experience of leading on coordinating events for children and families across Bracknell Forest to support community integration.

    In this role you will think creatively to solve problems and inspire others, by example, to be innovative and be able to prioritise your workload that places service users and their voice at the centre of decision making. You will be familiar with a range of approaches to supporting individuals and be able to deliver interventions to bring about positive change.
