Media and Engagement Manager

An opportunity has arisen to join the City of London Police press office, covering maternity leave for an 18-month period. This is an exciting opportunity to help deliver the force's national role on fraud and cyber crime. You will lead a small, busy and very proactive team on media management and the delivery of proactive campaigns to raise awareness of the UK's most prolific crime type to potential victims.

Description of Role:

To promote the work of City of London Police with journalists (local, regional, national, international, broadcast, print and online) and key stakeholders, particularly in relation to fraud and other economic crime.

To manage three media and communications officers, encouraging them to develop relations with key journalists and proactively generate positive coverage across print, TV, radio and online. To jointly manage a communications officer within a specific project team.

To act as a member of the Communications Management Team, developing and mentoring junior colleagues, and providing management support.

To establish and develop relationships with Corporation of London communications colleagues and colleagues in other law enforcement bodies and Government departments.

The role holder will be required to be on-call one week in approximately five or six, a stand-by allowance is paid for this. As this role is with an emergency service, out of office hours and unsociable working is sometimes necessary.
