Full Job Description

As an advanced mechatronics maintenance technician apprentice you will ensure that equipment performs to the required standard to facilitate production targets regarding safety, quality, delivery and cost within a high value production environment. Typically work would involve activities that include installation, testing, fault finding and, on going planned maintenance of complex automated equipment.

· Supporting the engineering manager with monthly & weekly maintenance tasks, on key operating packing equipment

· Supporting the day to day operations team, with problem solving and root cause analysis

· Contractor management of external companies carrying out work on site

· Helping to pull together engineering data to understand impacts the business

· Joining daily review meeting and taking actions on engineering topics and giving key updates to the operations team

The structure of the apprenticeship will include day release at a local college where you will learn how to:

· understand mathematical techniques, formula and calculations in a mechatronics maintenance environment and the type of equipment being maintained

· understand mechanical, electrical, electronic, fluid power and process control principles in a mechatronics maintenance environment

· understand how equipment being maintained functions and operating parameters in individual components and how they interact

· understand fault diagnostic methods, techniques and equipment used when maintaining equipment and systems

· understand condition monitoring methods and equipment used and understand how the information gained supports the planning of maintenance activities

· understand how to minimise machinery downtime by implementing planned preventative maintenance programmes

Level 3 engineering technician apprenticeship standard

Level 2 functional skills in English and maths if required, GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4 (C) or above) Essential
GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4 (C) or above) Essential
