Full Job Description

The NMGH Mechanical Infrastructure manager has responsibility for Hard Facilities Management (FM) services and sub contracted services at North Manchester General Hospital. The successful candidate will support on the separation, transition and integration of Site Mechanical Services and support the hospital redevelopment and backlog program's.

The successful candidate will join an ever-growing team which is taking on the successful re-building of a huge site based in North Manchester. Further development is on the horizon as we plan a new hospital and wider health and care campus being built as part of 'once-in-a-generation' plans to transform both the hospital and the North Manchester area, creating new jobs, promoting healthy lifestyles, developing skills for the benefit of the local neighbourhood and beyond. The successful candidate will be accountable for all day to day operational aspects of Infrastructure Services which are subject to any form of consideration under the site redevelopment programme, and including Backlog Maintenance. This will include the support and development of services to ensure they are progressive, responsive to internal and external demand, are patient focused, safe, efficient, and effective,

  • Oversee and monitor engineering and mechanical services and systems, ensuring that they are operated and decommissioned/commissioned, in accordance with all relevant current legislation and standards.

  • Advise the Head of Estates on all engineering and mechanical services and systems, concerning any problematic areas, non-compliance with statutory or mandatory regulations and risks to business continuity.

  • Ensure that the operational estates workforce are customer focused in providing the service to the Trust that is required for the department with respect to responsiveness, availability, training & capacity.

  • Develop & implement engineering policies, procedures and service reviews and align to any decommission / commissioning document.

  • Provide engineering reports identifying any problematic areas within estates plant/equipment or systems to the Heads Estates and Facilities.

  • Provide engineering advice and information to contractors and in-house teams appointed for projects.

  • Identify backlog maintenance issues and develop plans to implement a rolling maintenance strategy / planned maintenance programme.

  • Manage the delivery of small / minor works in a cost efficient and safe manner having communicated effectively with the relevant users as necessary. To liaise and work with other trades/disciplines including external agencies (contractors).
