Full Job Description

Register patients onto IPM/CMIS system ensuring all data is accurate at all times.

Liaise with Midwifery Teams, Obstetric Teams and other agencies to maintain data quality of referrals entered onto IPM.

Book appointments as directed and inform patients by telephone or letter.

Working in a team with little or no supervision at times.

To operate 4 computer systems, CMIS, ICE, iPM and Evolve.

Inputting patient details and accurate medical information onto the systems.

Updating patient details on all systems as required.

Coordinate discharges to community teams

To complete computerised discharges

To prepare the discharge, feeding and information packs

Respond to GP, Midwife and patient enquires via the telephone.

Direct service users to other departments, wards and clinics.

Liaise with the multidisciplinary team

Filing and retrieving patient notes attending Delivery Suite, MLBU, DAU and the wards.

Prepare notes for Evolve

To maintain an organised work area

To follow guidelines and procedures in the registration of mothers and the new born.

To maintain complete confidentiality of any information required in the work place.

Other Duties

To cross cover sickness and annual leave

Be responsive and helpful at all times to support the smooth running of the service.

Have an excellent telephone manner to ensure clear and concise information is exchanged to patients and staff.

To undertake any additional ad hoc duties as required.

The Luton and Dunstable Maternity department is undergoing an exciting time of redevelopment. We have updated our patient pathways for a smoother transition. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of Ward Clerks and will be instrumental in ensuring that our service users remain well informed whilst supporting the clinical staff in the pursuit of their daily duties.

As a Maternity Ward Clerk the successful candidate will be required to support the 7 days a week service. The role requires administrative expertise as well as a calm and compassionate manner. Adherence to the Trust guidelines and policies in relation to confidentiality is essential. Mandatory training will be provided on commencement with the Trust.

We are seeking an enthusiastic team worker with experience of working within a hospital setting to join our department. The successful candidate will be working closely with the Midwifery and other members of the Multidisciplinary team supporting them to work clinically by undertaking the non-clinical elements that are required to support efficiency of the workplace. We are seeking an individual with good communication skills, a methodical approach to work and a willingness and aptitude to learn our in house IT systems.

The successful candidate will provide an essential support service to the efficient running of the Maternity Unit. They must have the ability to work as part of a team as well as being able to work on their own initiative. They must have a good level of computer skills, be able to communicate effectively and work well under pressure. The highest standard of data quality input is required at all times.

The successful candidate will be required to liaise with and offer support to all members of the team to ensure tasks are carried out in a prompt and efficient manner keeping patient experience at the forefront.

A flexible approach and willingness to work across different areas within the department as and when required is essential.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work under pressure and be self motivated.
