Are you excited by the opportunity to develop you skills and work on a range of plant and machinery? Do you want to work for one of the UKs leading Port operators? We are seeking a Material Handling Operative to join our Peel Ports Logistics team and help keep the world moving!
Your Role
As a Material Handling Operative, you will operate the company's plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. You, ensure that all checks, audits and other paperwork are completed accurately and on time. Inspecting company plant and equipment for damage, you will report any incidents, accidents, dangerous occurrences or damages to the Bulk Operations Supervisor without delay. You will carry out cleaning duties to ensure company machinery and working areas are kept clean and in line with Peel Ports' H&S standards.
You proactively look for hazards, recording and actioning immediately and as safely as possible within SAP EHS. Working in a physically demanding environment, you will carry out miscellaneous operational duties where trained to do so. This is a multi-functional role, predominantly based in one area with a requirement to apply your skills across General Cargo and Bulk Terminal dependent upon experience, training, and business needs

You will ideally have previous experience working within an industrial general cargo/bulk handling environment, with the ability to operate wheel loaders, skid steers and continuous ship unloaders. Experience driving mobile harbour cranes would be beneficial.
You will have excellent communication and teamwork skills, along with the ability to multi-task and prioritise workload effectively and be adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment. A commitment to maintaining Health and Safety standards, as well as demonstrating compliance to safety policies and procedures is key. A full valid driving licence is essential for this role.
