Full Job Description

We are looking for a Marketing Officer to provide support within the Fostering Recruitment and Assessment Team working alongside our Assistant Marketing and Recruitment Officer as well as Qualified Social Workers and unqualified support staff in the wider Fostering Service., If you are passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and young people, then by joining us as a Marketing Officer you play a crucial role in ensuring Surrey's Looked After Children have safe and caring homes. Your mission will be to develop and implement innovative recruitment and retention marketing strategies for foster carers and adopters, as well as raise awareness about the service.
As a Marketing Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing campaigns that resonate with our target audiences, establishing a strong campaign identity by crafting key messages and creating compelling content.
This is a really varied and interesting role which will involve:

  • Managing the day-to-day delivery of a robust, multi-channel communications and engagement plan, developing both external and internal communications to maintain a consistent and professional message that aligns with our organisational objectives.

  • Creating accessible and accurate content for various digital channels and printed materials including: website updates, social media posts, intranet communications and newsletters, and maintaining relevant data to inform campaign development

  • Assisting with planning, organising and attending recruitment events, which may occasionally require evening or weekend work

  • Contributing to the development of a regional fostering recruitment hub as part of a DfE funded project, working collaboratively across the region


  • At times you may also be asked to perform other tasks across the Fostering Service to support recruitment and retention projects as required. This work would be commensurate with the scale and scope of the Marketing Officer role.

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build successful relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Track record of designing, implementing and analysing the success of social media advertising campaigns with a thorough knowledge of Google and social media analytics

  • Demonstrable experience in managing websites and curating / delivering newsletters

  • Exceptional organisational skills including: time management, ability to anticipate and prioritise workload, and communicate priorities across the team

  • Numerate and computer literate, with excellent general IT skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams

  • Basic awareness of relevant legislation affecting working with children, including the Children Act (1989) and the Children and Adoption Act (2002)

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the county which includes both urban and rural areas

    Our commitment

    This role has a starting salary of £40,296 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.
    This is a 6-month fixed term contract or a secondment opportunity.
