Full Job Description

The successful intern will work closely with the Communications and Marketing Partner, gaining excellent experience and insight into a not-for-profit organisation with a varied and exciting role. You will work to understand the association, its customers, and the area it operates in before delving into several areas of work, supported by colleagues at SLH. This internship will involve a mixture of the following activities:

  • Support with a transition to a new website, including opportunity to influence new website development with the appointed design agency.

  • Liaising with colleagues at the housing association to uncover exciting news stories, working alongside "Comms Champions" to create and collect content.

  • Providing hands on social media support, including the creation of video content, design of visuals etc.

  • Conducting a competitor review and best practice across the industry.

    Applicants should have 'on trend' thinking and technical knowledge and/or relevant marketing experience and bring skills that can be applied to content creation, copywriting, and digital marketing. You should be able to work with a variety of colleagues, be self-motivated and looking to work closely with the organisation across several areas. This will provide excellent experience in an organisation which can deliver genuine change within local communities. There is further opportunity to link to national peer groups and networks which lobby politicians about various industry standards, should this be of interest to the successful applicant.

    South Lakes Housing (SLH) currently owns & manages approx. 3,500 homes across a wide geography mainly in South Lakeland & Lancashire. It is an independent, not-for-profit community housing association, formed to improve the quality of affordable homes in the area and the service customers receive.
