We are offering an incredible opportunity to become a part of our cutting-edge HVDC manufacturing team within the Mechanical Assembly Department at UK Grid Solutions Limited, Stafford. As a global leader in high power electronics and control technology, we specialize in pioneering High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Transmission Systems using both Line-Commutated (thyristor-based) and Voltage-Sourced (IGBT-based) converter technologies.

As a Manufacturing Operator, you'll be a key player in our production team, ensuring the efficient assembly of products to meet daily targets while maintaining the highest quality standards. This role offers the chance to develop your expertise in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve Production Targets: Play a crucial role in meeting production goals, potentially requiring shift work.

  • Maintain Quality: Ensure all products meet rigorous quality standards, adhering to standard operating instructions.

  • Routine Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of your workstation to ensure optimal operation.

  • Compliance: Ensure all equipment meets compliance standards, including BV Inspections, Calibration, and PAT.

  • Support Team Efforts: Step in to support other manufacturing duties as needed, contributing to the overall success of the team.

  • 5S Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.

  • EHS Standards: Follow best practices for Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), fully aligning with GE EHS standards.


  • What We're Looking For:
  • Educational Background: A solid general education.

  • Relevant Experience: Proven experience in light mechanical assembly or a similar environment.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work shift patterns to meet production demands.

  • Team Player: Strong ability to work and communicate effectively within a team.

  • Lean Manufacturing Knowledge: Understanding of Lean manufacturing techniques is a plus.

  • Mechanical/Electrical Aptitude: Valuable but not essential.

  • Manual Handling & Ergonomics Knowledge: Required for safe working practices.

  • Independent Worker: Ability to follow standard written operative procedures autonomously.

  • VAV and LOTO Knowledge: Familiarity with these procedures is advantageous.


  • Personal Attributes:
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and team collaboration.

  • Proactive and Results-Driven: Self-motivated with a focus on achieving high-quality results.

  • Deadline-Oriented: Able to work efficiently under time constraints.

  • Proficient in English: Both written and verbal (other languages are a bonus).

  • Adaptable: Open to working shift patterns to keep up with production demands.


  • Shift Details:
  • Current Shifts: Flexibility required between 6am - 10pm.

  • Future Shifts: 6am - 2pm and 2pm - 10pm (Monday - Thursday), shorter shifts on Fridays.

  • Shift Premium: Benefit from a premium allowance for shift work.
