Full Job Description

The main purpose of this role is to provide a first class management accounting service to the Museum.
Key areas of responsibility:
Working with the management accountants and accounts processing team to provide best practice accounting, processing and reporting services to all Museum staff.
Preparation of online management reports.
Preparation of accurate quarterly forecasts.
Contribute to the Museum-wide budgeting process.
Preparation of material for the consolidated financial statements and liaison with the auditors.
Preparation of year-end financial statements, reports and papers for subsidiaries and related entities, and acting as main point of contact for auditors.
Preparation of information for internal reports and papers, including the corporate risk register.
Preparation of information for regular and ad hoc returns to DCMS and other external bodies.
Ensuring compliance with donor restrictions, public sector and charitable sector regulations and guidelines.
Analysis of Museum-wide income and expenditure streams to monitor and improve efficiency and profitability.
Providing and reviewing financial information for business cases and funding applications.
Develop processes.
Contribute financial expertise to Museum-wide projects and initiatives.

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience with an ACA accountancy qualification.
Good technical knowledge of relevant Accounting Standards and regulatory framework, income tax, NI and VAT, and familiarity with accounting systems.
Previous experience of project management and auditing.
An excellent communicator, both verbal and written, who can prioritise workload and use their own initiative.
Great problem solving, organisational and attention to detail skills.
