Full Job Description

Contract term: Permanent

Contract type: Term-time only, Part-time, 21 hours per week. Working hours are 08:15-15:45, Wednesday to Friday.

Scale: Grade 3, point 4-6 (£23,114 - £23,893 FTE), pro rata starting salary of £11,624.

This is a great opportunity to come and work in our highly rated secondary school in central Manchester. Under the guidance of teaching staff, provide support for pupils who require help to enable access to learning and to assist in the management of pupils. Provide specialist support in a specific area of curriculum and to supervise groups and occasionally whole classes for a session/lesson in the classroom or outside the main teaching area as required.

  • WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU:
  • Experience and an understanding of safeguarding and child protection issues, or be willing to undertake training in these areas;

  • Numeracy and literacy skills at least equivalent to RQF Level 2; good ICT skills are also desirable;

  • Ideally have significant experience working as a Teaching Assistant or similar;

  • Experience of working with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs;

  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students and their parent(s)/carer(s);

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well within a team, yet able to demonstrate an ability to work unsupervised utilising their own initiative;

  • Be professional, flexible and innovative, with experience of undertaking a wide variety of duties and an ability to remain calm and helpful under pressure to deal skilfully with unanticipated situations;

  • High level of administrative and well organised working experience with an adaptable and positive approach to with competing priorities and deadlines, ideally in an educational setting and with experience of using SIMS;

  • Supportive of the school's excellent staff attendance and punctuality record.
