Full Job Description

  • To assist in the provision of an integrated portering service to the Trust and commercial customers.

  • To ensure the needs of both the customer and the company are met within the agreed quantities and standard of quality.


  • Responsibilities include;
  • Ensure laundry deliveries to the Hospital are received, checked and delivered to the appropriate area.

  • Assess the daily linen requirements for all wards/departments in your care to ensure that agreed stock levels are maintained.

  • Maintain cleanliness of laundry trolleys and ensure they are retained in the correct location.

  • Seal used linen into laundry bags.

  • Place daily orders to the processing facility for following days delivery.

  • Follow work schedules to assist in the timely delivery of clean linen to wards and departments.

  • Follow work schedules to assist in the collection of used linen from wards, departments and theatres.

  • Complete and maintain accurate paperwork for the wards/departments in your care.

  • Ensure emergency linen requests from any ward/department within normal working hours are delivered to the wards within agreed timescales.

  • Ensure linen is sorted and arranged for collection by the driver at the correct times.

  • Discrepancies in deliveries are reported as soon as possible.

    Comfortable working in a hospital environment

  • Experience of working within a highly customer-focused service environment.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Patient, polite and courteous.

  • Flexibility to work unsocial hours if required

  • All postholders must have a clear check from the Disclosure and Barring Service
