If this is you, Light Peer Support has an exciting opportunity to be part of the government's national Family Hub/Start for Life programme, supporting families and children at the start of their lives.

You'll be at the forefront of the Family Hub/Start for Life transformation programme. You will deliver locality based perinatal mental health (PNMH) peer support services, to support the transition to parenthood when parents face emotional and/or mental health difficulties.

About Light Peer Support

Light is a perinatal mental health peer support charity, set up in 2010, which has grown to support parents and their families across South Yorkshire. We're led by our passion to support mental health during pregnancy and beyond for all families from all communities.

We work across South Yorkshire with families who are experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties in the perinatal period. Working in partnership across the statutory and voluntary sector to raise awareness of perinatal mental health difficulties and the support available.

We're committed to providing services that embrace diversity to support equity in service access and promote equality of opportunity.

Perinatal Mental Health (PNMH) Peer Support Worker role

We are able to support more people who are affected by emotional and mental health problems during pregnancy and the postnatal period, and/or are facing parent - infant relationship difficulties.

Integrated services will be delivered in Family Hubs, ensuring that perinatal mental health peer support is available locally right across Barnsley.

As a Peer Support Worker you will provide Perinatal Mental Health Peer Support to women and families who have self-referred or have been referred to Light. This will involve the delivery of group support and the offer of structured 1-1 support, responsive to the needs of service users. You'll be comfortable raising awareness of Light's services with professional groups and reaching out into communities to promote locality based peer support. You will be based at your nearest family hub, but be able to travel across the Barnsley area, and attend Light's main hub in Sheffield on a occasions.

We're committed to staff well-being and development. You will supported in your role by Light's leadership team and a passionate team of Peer Support Workers working across South Yorkshire.
