Full Job Description
Role Overview: We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Mental Health Access Facilitator to join our Autism AIM service. This role involves providing one-to-one peer support sessions to ensure autistic adults have equal access to mental health and other necessary services. The successful candidate will advocate for clients in healthcare meetings, manage a small caseload, and create resources to enable clients to self-advocate. Additionally, the facilitator will conduct environmental audits in mental health settings and co-deliver training sessions to mental health professionals.,
- Deliver 1-2-1 peer support sessions in person, via telephone, and using remote technology.
- Ensure autistic adults receive equal access to mental health services and wider services where appropriate.
- Support clients in identifying and completing personalised self-advocacy resources.
- Advocate for clients during assessments and 'helpful conversations' with mental health services.
- Manage a small caseload from referral to signposting or triage into appropriate services.
- Maintain high standards of case notes and session documentation.
- Co-deliver mental health and autism awareness workshops/training to third sector organisations.
- Stay informed about mental health services and networks in Leeds.
- Assist in conducting audits of physical spaces to recommend accessibility improvements.
- Collaborate with the AIM Team and participate in team meetings.
- Refer unresolved issues to appropriate team members.
- Learn from and engage with other autistic adults using the service.
- Contribute to reports demonstrating the impact of 1-2-1 sessions.
- Adhere to health and safety, safeguarding, and data protection policies.
- Participate in performance reviews and undertake mandatory training.
Essential: - Have an autism diagnosis.
- Experience advocating for yourself or others.
- Proven experience in delivering 1-2-1 peer support sessions.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience working directly with autistic adults.
- Experience providing advocacy or related support.
- Knowledge of mental health care services and third sector organisations.
