Full Job Description

full time or part time hours considered up to a maximum of 1.0 FTE /40 hours Requests for flexible working options will be considered (subject to business need).,

  • A key responsibility of this position is to the continuing development and delivery of undergraduate assessment supporting a number of key areas in teaching, assessment development and creation:


  • The post holder will play a key part in developing formative assessments including Capsule cases and creating new summative assessment items. The post holder will contribute to standard setting and examining OSCEs.


  • The post holder will support ongoing developments in the electronic logbook (PebblePad)


  • The post holder contributes to admissions process and the annual question writing and OSCE writing events.


  • It is hoped that the post holder will undertake medical education research either focusing on a novel project or collaborating with existing projects in the group.


  • One day per week will be spent with the DME Team at University Hospitals Sussex auditing placement capacity at UHS East and West to better understand the optimum learning opportunities for all healthcare students


  • We expect that this post holder will lead a Student Selected Component within the undergraduate curriculum.


  • The post holder will contribute to admissions interviews, standard setting and OSCE examining.


  • It is hoped that the post holder will undertake medical education research either focusing on a novel project or collaborating with existing projects in the group. There is also the opportunity to apply assessment theories in practice, for example implementing effective suite of work place based assessments to enhance learning from clinical placements, or developing novel simulated teaching methods to complement clinical placement learning.


  • The department would offer the postholder the opportunity to complete three funded, postgraduate modules or equivalent towards a postgraduate qualification in education as part of these roles.
