Full Job Description

The English and Modern Foreign Languages Department at Brockenhurst College are looking to recruit a Lecturer in English Language and Literature on a part time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31,000 to £41,217 pro rata DOE. (Unqualified teachers £24,547 to £31,000 pro rata DOE).

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

Responsibilities as our Lecturer in English will include:

· Plan, deliver and assess in a way that is inclusive for all learners and allows all learners to make progress and achieve.

· Ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across GCSE English Language and A-Level English Language and Literature.

· Deliver 4.5 hours of taught lessons per class per week and 2 additional hours of 'Independent Learning' tasks that can be tracked for A Level and 3 hours of taught lessons per class per week for GCSE English Language.

· Develop the effectiveness of teaching, learning, and assessing strategies within English Language and Literature.

· Develop teaching and learning resources for English Language and Literature students.

· Develop and update the interactive learning platform.

· Communicate effectively with learners utilising our interactive learning platforms.

· Ensure learners are taught through a variety of activities.

· Develop teaching and learning resources.

· Monitor learner progress both in and out of class.

· Monitor KPIs such as levels of attendance, retention and outcomes on English Language and Literature.

· Monitor learner satisfaction and continually seek ways of improving the service we provide.

As our Lecturer in English, you'll ideally have:

· Degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant subject area to include English.

· Excellent teaching skills.

· Able to manage learners and learning effectively.

· Able to develop effective learning resources.

· Knowledge and understanding of current developments in English Language and Literature A level.

· Supportive and positive approach to teaching and learning.
