Our engineers dedicated to Naval are involved in solving exciting challenges through leading the development and delivery of the engineering aspects of our projects. Projects that range from designing, de-risking and delivery of new power / propulsion and energy system solutions alongside digital & automation technologies to our UK and international customers both to surface and submarine systems.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Will work with the existing program Engineering Manager to take on day to day Lead power systems design and test activities for the delivery of the associated project electrical Systems.

  • Will coordinate all power system design and test related engineering activities during the Project, phases. Including power system modelling, auxiliary systems, equipment specification alongside power system test specifications, results analysis and reporting.

  • Responsible for deliver full systems design installation and test (AC and DC power system architecture , power generation and distribution, protection, power conversion, motors and energy stores, cabling, control systems) ensuring the overall design meets customer, contract and regulatory requirements.

  • Establish and maintain engineering quality control system for the project test phases.

  • Establish and manage contract design documentation. Produce design documentation and test reports as necessary.

  • Liaise with Service Engineer/ Platform Engineering, Technology and Value Engineering, and Supply Chain as appropriate in order to support the project and the business.

  • Liaise with other GE businesses, sub-contractors and customers as appropriate in order to support the project and the business.


  • The applicant must be a sole national British citizen and have a valid UK passport and a valid full UK driving licence

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent in electrical/electronic /control engineering or related subject.

  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent proven record of continuous professional development.

  • Project leadership/management training

  • Existing or the ability to obtain the higher levels of UK Security Clearance, including "SC Clearance" and "UK Eyes Only Clearance", are required for this role.

  • Experience in systems application engineering in one or more fields, from power engineering, electrical drive systems , power electronics.

  • Experience of system integration, working on multi-discipline projects
