Full Job Description

Liberty Global operates across a landscape involving an interesting mix of technology domains covering both the cloud native and enterprise spaces. These include customer facing entertainment and connectivity services, back office IT, network virtualization and edge computing domains.
We are currently looking for a highly motivated and experienced Lead Cloud Architect to help us realise our Cloud Transformation strategy. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a highly skilled and motivated team with a growth mindset!
As a Lead Cloud Architect, joining the Cloud Strategy, Architecture and Transformation team, you will be responsible for developing, driving and maintaining the architecture and designs for our landing zones and key foundational services. You will own cloud technology roadmaps and have a significant role in shaping and pressure testing the cloud strategy. You will provide technical expertise and technical leadership to the infrastructure and application teams for a variety of cloud projects, technologies and services. Create end-to-end cloud architecture solutions in a complex, large-scale landscape, across a number of domains, including large-scale Edge Computing, ICT and Network Virtualisation platforms.

Location and travel
This role is quite flexible around location (hybrid working). There will be team meetings in our UK or NL offices (dependent on which is your closest location). This is currently once or twice a fortnight. Some occasional travel will also be involved.,

  • Technical Design Authority (and tech lead) for GCP or AWS foundational services / landing zones, including aspects such as cloud connectivity & networking, governance, security, cloud economics and enterprise IT integration

  • Provide expert cloud consultancy services to application owners and markets, creating end-to-end solution architectures where applicable

  • Define cloud technology principles, standards, guidelines, and reference models, for adoption across the business

  • Contribute to the cloud technology roadmaps and play a key role in shaping our cloud strategy

  • Support business case development, cloud migration and adoption initiatives

  • Work with LG Ventures in assessing emerging technologies / companies and in carrying out due diligence on them

  • Help build a collaborative and transparent culture of continuous improvement, within the team and across domains, while mentoring junior team members

    Extensive experience in a Lead Cloud Architect (GCP or AWS) or similar role, in a large, complex enterprise within a hybrid cloud environment

  • Extensive experience and expertise in cloud architecture & technologies (GCP or AWS), including governance pillars, core cloud services), having applied these to complex and large-scale projects.

  • Proven technical leadership capabilities, a coaching / collaborative style of working.

  • Ability to conduct Well-Architected reviews (or similar) for workload owners

  • Experience integrating enterprise / on-premise platforms with public cloud (including connectivity aspects)

  • Extensive experience in applying architecture and technology skills to cloud transformation & migration projects

  • Extensive experience of Cloud Native, DevOps patterns and tooling (including IaC)

  • Expert domain knowledge of the latest cloud offerings, business models, technologies and the commercial and technical advantages these enable


  • Desirable skills & abilities:
  • Experience in a Telco environment

  • Experience with Edge computing and NFV/CNF, ideally in a mobile or fixed line context

  • Programming / software development experience, AWS or GCP cloud certification preffered
