Full Job Description

The rewarding job offers the opportunity to develop strong and effective working relationships with both student and staff, to deliver positive learning experiences for our students in school as well as engagement in the wilder community.

You will be working as part of a friendly and experienced multidisciplinary team, based in the therapies office on site. The team consists of speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and music therapists, as well as the wilder multidisciplinary team including teachers, learning support assistants, learning mentors and the family support worker, offering holistic support to students and their families. We offer unique opportunities for joint working with other disciplines, such as occupational therapy and music therapy, in delivering direct therapy to students.

We also work closely with our senior leadership team in delivering and informing the school development plan. As part of this , we provide training to school staff.

The department is well resourced with excellent support from our therapie assistants. CPD opportunities are available, as well as opportunities to specialise in specific areas including AAC.

St John's is committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share commitment. Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

We are looking for an experienced speech and language therapist to join our dynamic and experienced on site therapy team. The successful candidate will have had experience of working in school, and a good knowledge and understanding of autism, Down's Syndrome and learning disabilities. Experience in AAC is also desirable.
