Full Job Description

Initially a six month contract you will contribute to the achievement of the overall business success by the safe and efficient running of the quality control and quality assurance activities. Analyse key parameters throughout the process. Set-up, maintain and run all of the laboratory equipment, train other Lab Technicians to raise their skill levels.

The working week is 40 hours.

Shift will be 7am -3pm initially but once trained you will be on a rotation of 6am-2pm, 7-3pm, 11-7pm and 2pm-10pm

What is needed to be successful in this role (Person Specification), · Carrying out the established range of quality control and inspection procedures in a competent and conscientious manner. Accurately recording and reporting of results.

· Communication any out of specification results to the wider team and taking the appropriate action.

· Using and maintaining laboratory equipment with proper diligence in accordance with instruction and training provided

· Caring out all work in a safe manor and reporting any health and safety risks via the appropriate channels

· Wearing at all times safety footwear provided by the company and to make use of the full range of protective clothing/equipment provided and as directed for each task.

· Working on either shift as required by the Laboratory Manger. This will usually be on a mutually agreed rota basis, although unforeseen circumstances may require a change of work hours as short notice.

· Becoming proficient in the use of any new equipment and procedures that may be introduced.

· Bringing to the attention of the Laboratory Manager or Quality Assurance Manager any matter which you cannot resolve, and which prevents or hinders the execution of these duties.

· Pursuing ongoing training and personal development

· Informing a director of any issue you consider to be of a significant nature which has a bearing on your performance in your job.

· Previous experience of Quality Control or Quality Assurance role preferably in food and drinks industry

· Good laboratory practices

· Understanding of wet chemistry and microbiological techniques

· Ability to multitask and priorities workload.

· Clean and maintain laboratory equipment.

· Pride in delivering excellent results yourself and as part of a team.

· Passion to strive for high performance.

· Determination and a will to succeed.

· Good People skills and the ability to influence effectively.

· Analytical decision-making capability.

· Capable of adapting to and implementing change

· Degree standard of education

· Strong IT skills

· Have achieved or be working towards IBD Certification in Packaging,
