Junior Project Engineer

The role of the Project Engineer at FlexLink Systems Ltd is to carry out engineering activities and support the Project Managers in ensuring that projects are completed on time, to the customer's satisfaction, and within budget.
Main activities and responsibilities

• Prepare layout drawings for customer approval, system assembly & installation


• Complete design of non-standard components considering design for manufacture (DFM) & value engineering principles


• Prepare detail drawings for manufacture to FlexLink standards & liaise with purchasing to obtain quotations


• Liaise with customers, including attending site as required, to confirm their requirements & verify these against project scope


• Prepare functional specifications for agreement with the customers and for definition of external supplier scope of supply for quotation


• Create bill of materials (BOM) for all required material & identify long lead items


• Where required liaise with controls engineer to ensure a cohesive engineering solution is achieved


• Support the workshop team with assembly queries, prototyping, testing and commissioning


• Generate technical file documentation e.g. design risk assessment, manuals, etc.


• Execution of technical projects from handover to close out


• Achieving customer satisfaction through successful project delivery & good communication


• Managing project scope by identifying variations and estimating cost & timing impacts for engineering changes


• Ensuring project financial performance through cost control, forecasting & maintaining invoicing milestones


• Project planning to ensure on-time delivery & co-ordination of internal & external resources


• Working closely & communicating well with the internal team to ensure that other departments can effectively support projects
  
  HNC / Degree in Engineering or equivalent, engineering background preferable minimum of 12-18 months. Also:


• Mechanical engineering principles


• Manufacturing & assembly tools & processes


• Conveyor solutions, automation & robotics


• CAD software (AutoCAD & Inventor)


• Drawing standards


• Problem solving techniques


• ERP systems (SAP)


• Project planning


• Cost estimation & forecasting
