Full Job Description

We are seeking an ambitious and entrepreneurial Junior Power Scheduler to join the power trading desk in assisting them with the day-to-day operations of physical power trading.

CFP Energy is currently set up to trade in a number of European markets, however this role will include assisting the setup of new markets, exchanges and interconnectors. This is a new and evolving role as part of the expansion of power business within CFP Energy.,

  • Understand the role of Balancing Parties, TSOs, Power Exchanges and Trading Platforms in the context of the European power market.


  • Work directly with the Power Traders to help execute their strategies and inform them or sudden market impacts and changes.


  • Management of long term, day ahead and intra-day cross-border capacities.


  • Assist with the nomination and forecasting of generating assets together, as well as become the company expert in the European power market.


  • Contact counterparties when necessary to check power positions and trades and ensure efficient matching.


  • Provide input to IT, Risk, Back Office, and Finance so that trades are appropriately booked and managed according to the internal processes of the company.


  • Maintain a thorough understanding of CFP Energy's purchase and supply contracts and the obligations therein ensuring CFP Energy's compliance.


  • Assist with the onboarding and integration of new PPA deals, generation assets and delivery contracts.


  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the various Power markets and regulatory regimes across Europe, where CFP Energy operate.

    Self-motivated, with an aptitude for accurate problem solving in a very time critical environment.

  • Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate a range of European markets.

  • Very strong commercial judgement, excellent analytical skills and able to make accurate decisions and ability to handle a stressful environment.

  • Understand of the basics of the European Power Market.

  • Learner mindset continually driven to improve systems and process.


  • DESIRED, BUT NOT ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
  • Minimal basic knowledge of programming languages, namely VBA and Python.

  • Additional language (especially German, Polish, or Spanish).

  • Prior experience working in a trading environment.

  • Prior experience/knowledge in UK and EU Power Trading.
