Java / JavaScript Software Developer

We are looking for an experienced Java/JavaScript Software Developer to join our Software Team!

Reporting to the Software Supervisor, you will be responsible and accountable for developing, implementing, testing, and supporting new services and software to improve our visualization and productivity tools.

In the context of supporting our transformation to be cloud-ready and developing our software suite, the Web Interactive Team is looking for an experienced Java/JavaScript Developer to reinforce our expertise, knowledge, and support the increasing demand for web visualization tools.

Principle Accountabilities

• Development of Backend services to access, process dataset and information.


• Development of Web Frontend visualizations & productivity tools.


• Development of new software and tools using modern technologies both for long term projects and architecture improvements.


• Creating and managing CI/CD pipelines to build, test and deploy services and applications.


• Transforming software services to be cloud ready.


• Participation in design discussions with other teams across CGG.


• Support critical production tools.
  
  Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, or Software Engineering or another field with a programming emphasis, or relevant work experience (5/10 years of successful software experience)., Passion for coding, analyzing, and solving technical challenges. Passion for innovation and new technologies.

• Knowledge of software development best practices and the software development lifecycle

• Knowledge in Machine learning, HPC or mathematics / physics are a plus


• Familiarity with the following technical stack:

+ Back-end: Java, Spring Boot, Maven, Node.js, Kafka (a plus)
+ Front-end: JavaScript, HTML5/CSS, React, TypeScript, Plotly, Three.js (a plus)
+ DevOps/Tools: Git, GitLab, IntelliJ, Docker, Jenkins, Linux, JIRA, Grafana (a plus)

• Typical background:

+ Solid software engineering skills.
+ Services-oriented.
+ Understanding of geoscience concepts and visualizations.
