Full Job Description

Overall:
The Residence of the Ambassador of Japan is seeking a highly qualified individual who excels in teamwork for the role of Ambassador's Residence Staff.

The Ambassador represents the Government of Japan in the United Kingdom, and the Japanese Ambassador's Residence hosts a variety of events, including lunches/dinners, receptions, and welcomes very important guests (VVIPs). These events are a crucial part of diplomatic activity and require the highest standards of professionalism.,

  • Based on experience and other factors. Paid by British Pounds Sterling.

  • Paid leave, sick leave, maternity/paternity leave, etc. as per regulations.


  • Working hours:
  • Standard working days: 22 days per 4-week period

  • Working hours: 8 hours per day, including a 30-minute break (weekends included)

  • Specific working hours will be provided in the individual rota schedule

  • Occasional night duties as required


  • Duties include:
  • All hospitality duties, such as lunch/dinner, and receptions: general cleaning and sweeping the outside before welcoming guests, preparation, table mis en place, guest greeting, service (refreshments, meals and beverage including wine and Japanese Sake), cleanup, etc.

  • Working as a team, with the Principals, all Residence colleagues, including 5 Residence staff, 2 Residence chefs, 1 maid and Embassy staff.

  • Perform maintenance and management of the Ambassador's Residence and its furnishings, along with general security and cleaning.

  • Coordinate and communicate with other staff and contractors entering and exiting the Ambassador's residence.

  • Preparation, serving, attending to, and cleanup of meals for the Principals.

  • Timely communication, coordination, and confirmation of official matters related to the Principales with other embassy staff.

  • Ad-hoc work, including general administration work., All applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration Act (Excluding: Youth Mobility Scheme Visa (YMS), Graduate Trainee Visa).

    Excellent command/highly proficient in spoken and written English


  • A command of the Japanese language is not necessary but preferable.

  • Effective teamwork and communication skills

  • Right to work in the UK


  • Preferable Experiences:
  • Experience in customer service and working atfine dining restaurants, hotels, NHNW households or diplomatic residences

  • Experience in (VIP) guest service (high-end) settings .

  • Experience in the service and hospitality industry, including retail.
