Nestled within the serene landscapes of Reading, PPH stands as a beacon of compassionate care and holistic healing. With seven specialised wards catering to both adult and older adult patients, each day brings opportunities for growth, learning, and impactful interventions.

Your journey with us begins as a valued healthcare support worker, allowing you to immerse yourself in our hospital's ethos while we guide you through our comprehensive OSCE preparation programme. Upon successfully obtaining your PIN, you'll transition seamlessly into the role of a mental health nurse, equipped to navigate the complexities of mental health care with confidence and expertise.

We understand the challenges of relocating to a new country, and that's why we offer unwavering support every step of the way. From assisting with your OSCE preparations to providing up to three test bookings and sponsorship for an initial three years, we are committed to easing your transition and ensuring your success.

Our dedicated pastoral and learning and development teams are here to guide you through the nuances of life in the UK, ensuring a seamless integration into our hospital family., Some duties include:

  • You will be clinically responsible for the co-ordination and implementation of effective nursing care on a Mental Health ward. You will liaise with other Professional Teams and with those providing support services.

  • Occasionally as part of your professional development plan, you will be expected to take charge of the ward under the supervision of more senior qualified nursing staff member/colleague.

  • You will ensure that the clinical, environmental, and social needs of the patient are met by assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating programmes of care, seeking guidance and direction from senior nursing staff working in the unit where necessary.

  • To be the best you can be, you will have access to our professional clinical and leadership development courses to ensure you are up to date, feel confident and develop as a nurse and leader, and manage and supervise a team of junior staff.


  • Work Schedule:

    A full-time contract entails 37.5 hours per week, with shift assignments necessary to maintain 24-hour staffing at the hospital.

    Shifts often tend to be;

    06:45 till 14:45

    12:00 till 20:00

    06:45 till 20:00

    19:30 till 07:15
