This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented Internal Communications Manager to join our Communications team.

To help us engage our colleagues and celebrate their success and the progress we are making in our business, we are expanding our Internal Communications team and looking for a confident and values-driven Internal Communication Manager to join us!

Working alongside our existing Internal Communications Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to develop campaigns and content that builds understanding and engagement amongst our 9000+ colleagues, who work across our stores, manufacturing and distribution sites and our Support Centre in Wakefield. In this role you will manage our existing communication channels and help to explore and develop new approaches. A key purpose of this role will be to develop engaging content, with support from a retained agency and an in-house creative services team, to ensure a regular cadence of impactful internal communications.

We operate smart working principles at cardfactory, combining some days working from our support centre in Wakefield (1-2 a week) with some days working remotely from home.

Role Responsibility

  • Alongside fellow Internal Communications Manager, partner with senior leaders and key functions to develop internal communications plans and activations that help colleagues connect with and engage in their role in the delivery of the cardfactory strategy and ambition.

  • Lead key internal communications campaigns and activations such as annual colleague engagement survey, learning and development programmes, DE&I strategy initiatives, business change programmes and seasonal campaigns, through planning, delivery and evaluation of effectiveness.

  • Manage internal communication activity planner to ensure alignment with business priorities.

  • Manage cardfactory internal communication channels (e.g. e-newsletter, digital screens, emails, posters) and content to keep it up to date and in line with communications priorities.

  • Manage briefs to comms agency and in-house creative services team to support the delivery of engaging internal communications content within agreed budgets.

  • Provide communications guidance to departments and colleagues to ensure messages are accurate and in line with our cardfactory strategy, brand and values.

  • Work with fellow Internal Communications Manager to manage monthly Business Updates and Senior Leaders Meetings, working with stakeholders to develop narrative and content to share with colleagues.

  • Work with Head of Communications to support the development of Internal Communications strategy and the tools, resources and narrative to support delivery.

  • Lead internal communications events including annual colleague conference, colleague moment awards and connection days.

  • Work with wider communications and customer team to ensure alignment of activations and messaging.

  • Fully understands the business strategy and culture, develops narrative and key messaging for all key communications.

  • Uses a consistent tone of voice aligned to our brand guidelines but is able to flex communications style as appropriate to meet the needs of the message and audience.

    Substantial internal communications experience at a similar level

  • Skilled communicator, who is both articulate and a creative storyteller.

  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships.

  • Experience of working and managing external agencies.

  • Has managed internal comms in a complex business, preferably multi-site retail.
