Full Job Description

The Internal Audit Manager supports the Chief Internal Audit to determine and execute the delivery of the Internal Audit plan of Wakam UK.

The role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Identify, assess and prioritise key risks relevant to the business in an Audit Universe

  • Helping to the determination of the annual Internal Audit plan

  • Coordinate co-sourcing resources, lead or participate in the different phases (planning, fieldwork and reporting) of the audit assignments.

  • Planning - scoping of the audit including documentation of audit scope, risk & control identification, and definition of testing strategies

  • Fieldwork - completing audit fieldwork by testing design and operating effectiveness of key controls and documenting audit work.

  • Reporting - Writing high quality work papers, issues and supporting the Chief Internal Auditor in writing the audit report.

  • Completing testing of audit issues confirmed as closed by the business

  • Support the Chief Internal Auditor for the preparation of Management Information and committee decks


  • Main tasks and responsibilities will notably include:
  • Managing & leading a wide range of material and/or complex legal, regulatory & contractual matters and deals (including drafting and negotiating agreements, structuring compliant distribution partnerships, and advising on UK legislation and regulation)

  • Building and maintaining relationships with, supporting, and reporting and updating key business stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters; understanding the business strategy and tactical priorities

  • Translating business decisions into a legal documentation

  • Applying a risk based, creative and solution driven approach, while ensuring maximum legal and reputational protection for Wakam

  • Assisting with the drive for consistency and efficiency across UK and potentially EU by seeking out & sharing expertise and experiences, information, learnings, knowhow and experiences with colleagues and the business, 2) Discussion with Chief Risk Officer Uk & Head Of Compliance UK

    Strong Insurance industry experience (preferably retail General Insurance) with cross-functional understanding

  • Significant experience within an Internal Audit function within the insurance industry

  • CIA qualification or equivalent

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong presentation skills
