Full Job Description

Our finance team is made up of 6 people in the UK, with additional transactional support on the ground in our Houston office. We have one finance team that looks after all things finance - from invoicing and credit control through to all month end and year end processes, reconciliations, budgets and forecasting, consolidation, tax and external and board reporting. The finance team also has significant involvement in project work.

The Interim Group Accountant will work alongside two other excellent and experienced accounting professionals to carry out all of our month end accounting activities, working with our external auditors during our interim and year end audit, and other ad hoc tasks and projects.

Continuous improvement is a key focus for our team and we have implemented best-in-class finance systems to help us to work efficiently and effectively. We are currently using systems such as NetSuite, Adaptive Planning and Budgeting, Pento and Payhawk and we're always looking to improve the tools we use and the way we use them. We also use our own productivity tool, Workiro, which we think is pretty great.

The Role

This is a varied role that would suit either someone newly qualified and keen to learn or someone with a bit more experience who would enjoy being part of our high performing team on an interim basis of 6-9 months. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, fast-growing, multi-currency environment. It's also an opportunity to get meaningful exposure to a modern, best-in-class finance technology stack in an AIM listed group.

Our goal is to work at our best, add maximum value to the business and enjoy what we do. Our business is changing all the time, and the right person for this role will be excited by the challenges and opportunities this generates.

This role will report to the Group Financial Accountant, work closely with the Finance Manager and wider finance team and interact frequently with the Director of Finance and Operations and the CFO.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Month end, H1 and year end postings including accruals, prepayments and fixed assets

  • Balance sheet reconciliations for a range of accounts

  • Act as a key member of the internal team during the interim and year end external audit.

  • Providing information requested and answering auditor queries

  • Support with tax reporting responsibilities such as VAT, US sales tax and corporate tax as required

  • Build and use reporting from NetSuite and Adaptive Planning and Budgeting to provide business insights

  • Work with the wider management team as required during the budgeting and reforecasting processes to encourage alignment around financial goals and objectives

  • Act as a key point of contact for the wider business for finance and forecast related queries

  • Support the wider finance team on current finance projects, working closely with the operations team as required

  • Act with a mindset of continuous improvement, always on the look out for ways to enhance the way the team works and how we could be even better

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, applied in an accounting context

  • Highly numerate with an A-level (or equivalent) in maths, statistics or other numerical subjects

  • A qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA or equivalent

  • Excellent attention to detail and highly organized, with the ability to give concrete examples of these skills

  • Highly motivated to learn and looking for the next challenge and learning opportunity

  • Have a working knowledge of UK and/or international accounting standards, demonstrating the ability to understand technical complexity

  • Strong software and data skills and a robust working knowledge of Excel

  • Desired Skills
  • Experience of successful remote or hybrid working

  • Software/SAAS experience
