Full Job Description

The IHETM will work to support the Employment Taxes Senior Manager to manage the compliance of the UK and Overseas Employment Tax affairs for EY. The successful applicant will be someone who demonstrates the ability to integrate with the EMEIA Tax Team quickly, is outgoing and able to build good relationships with key stakeholders both within the firm and with HMRC. They will have the ability to produce high quality work and have good tax technical skills. They will be encouraged to develop further their tax technical knowledge across a range of taxes through working closely with experienced tax professionals.

The team is fully supportive and actively encourages flexible working and will work closely with the successful applicant to facilitate them putting in place the appropriate flexible working arrangements.

Your Key Responsibilities:
UK - Domestic Tax

  • Expenses - employment tax advice on policy and ad hoc queries.

  • Review monthly expense and Accommodation data for P11d's

  • P11d Process and submission, including working with the mobility team and Payroll to collate benefits information for assignees (inbound and outbound).

  • P11d ad-hoc queries and amendments when required.

  • Manage annual PSA reviews and submissions (including review of relevant agreed expense types - e.g. relocation and business mileage).

  • Monitor the firm's IR35 compliance and internal processes to ensure compliance across the firm's contractor population.

  • Employment Status - employment tax advice on policy and ad hoc queries.

  • Completion of annual pensioner benefits report for submission to HMRC.

  • Completion of annual termination payments report for submission to HMRC.

  • Periodic training and training updates regarding PSA pack preparation plus ongoing support.

  • Dealing with day-to-day PAYE queries raised by HR, payroll and the business.

  • Monthly review and reconciliation of the PAYE Dashboard payments on HMRC Website

  • PAYE Dashboard queries/discrepancies

  • Set up PAYE Reference and Account Reference Numbers for new entities

  • Completion of annual review of FlexEY benefits and accompanying guidance.

  • Review HR reward initiatives (e.g. the new company car scheme).

  • Review of all policies and procedures that may be implemented or amended at any time that might have PAYE and/or NIC implications (e.g. changes to firm's employee pension scheme in light of changes to legislation).

  • Advisory Fuel rate monitoring on quarterly basis

  • Termination payments - periodic review of policy and procedures, as well as advice on specific cases as requested.

  • Work with Mobility and the Global Tax team to administer Global entity payrolls.

  • Review status of special entity payroll employee COC's.

  • Review and monitor Apprenticeship Levy.

  • Request and monitor s690 Agreements and Appendix V FTC agreements with HMRC/PAS

  • Monitor and file all payroll entities payroll runs and PAYE Payments for compliance.

  • Ad-hoc reporting for Short Term Business Visitors for the EMEIA Tax Team.


  • EMEIA - International Issues
  • Support to the business and the mobility team with regard to assignees and short-term business visitors/accidental expats.

  • Support to Global to assist with the development of policies for short term business visitors/accidental expats.

  • Support across EMEIA to help manage the cross-border movement of people.

  • ITEPA Knowledge champion - Monitoring of changes to legislation, tax cases, HMRC attitude etc and interaction with E&Y policies.

  • Attend monthly Shadow Payroll Meetings

  • Ad hoc reporting and support for Cross Border Traveller Support Team for Short Term Business Visitors

    Core knowledge should be Employment Taxes and payroll compliance.

  • Proficient/advanced user of MS Office package, including MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint with a good working knowledge of pivot tables.

  • Proven analytical skills and strong attention to accuracy and detail

  • Ability to manage their own time, organised and to manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders

  • Commitment to developing self, desire to make the role their own


  • Ideally, you'll also have:
  • The candidate should be currently working in either a Tax/Employment tax or payroll role.

  • Ideally the candidate should have or seeking qualifications within Employment Tax (CIPP/AAT).

  • The ideal candidate will have Employment Tax knowledge with an interest in international aspects.

  • Ideally will be seeking to progress their career, in the medium or long term, to become an Employment Tax Senior Manager.
