Milestone Infrastructure is currently looking to recruit HSW Advisor to work on our Streetlighting and civil engineering projects contracted around London, Surrey and Essex.

As the HSW Advisor you will be part of our team who are responsible for providing functional Health, Safety and Wellbeing advice, guidance and coaching to the operational teams. The position supports the contract/project teams in establishing and maintaining the highest levels of Health, Safety and Wellbeing.

Milestone are a major supplier of specialist highway electrical services. Our in-house lighting design team specialises in the installation and maintenance of lighting and electrical equipment on the highway for local authorities, contractors and developers. The majority of our work consists of long-term contracts, and we're currently managing over 100,000 assets.
Milestone deliver complex, civil engineering and infrastructure projects for the private and public sectors across the UK and have built strong, resilient relationships with our clients based on a collaborative approach. Framework contracts include pavement renewals and asset upgrades on the M25 orbital motorway.,

  • Advise, guide and coach all personnel with the implementation of the Milestone Infrastructure Management System (MIMS)

  • Advise on contract/project compliance with MIMS and statutory provisions

  • Advise the contract/project team on the competency requirements in line with MIMS requirements

  • Advise the contract/project on the production, implementation and review of HSW plans, e.g. construction phase plan, depot HSW plan

  • Advise contract/project teams to ensure risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are prepared and reviewed as necessary

  • Ensure the contract/project report all incidents in line with the incident investigation procedure on MIMS

  • Escalate significant and potentially significant incidents to HSW manager and contract/project lead immediately

  • Undertake incident investigations in line with the incident investigation procedure on MIMS and identify preventative measures to prevent similar incidents recurring, including lessons learnt

  • Maintain the incident management database, including uploading of supporting documentation and close out of actions

  • Ensure monthly HSW reports are completed and submitted, accurately and on time

  • Review contract/project HSW trends with the contract/project lead; establish and monitor any agreed improvement plans

  • Conduct, as a minimum, HSW audits and inspections as per the schedule(s) recording findings/actions on Procore

  • Assist the contract/project to close out actions/non-conformances from HSW audits and inspections

  • Work proactively to build and maintain relationships with contractors/subcontractors, designers, suppliers, clients, enforcement agencies and other relevant parties

  • Participate in the development, review, update and rollout of HSW processes and procedures within MIMS

  • Support the business with work winning when requested

  • Identify and produce award submissions, e.g .RoSPA

  • Promote and support a culture of continuous improvement through the development of It Starts With Me

  • To support project teams in establishing and maintaining the highest HSW standards for the contract/project

  • Act as an exemplar role model in delivering HSW initiatives and campaigns

  • Set an example to the business by maintaining a high standard of HSW compliance at all times

  • Carry out specific briefings as instructed by HSW manager

    Previous experience in health and safety. Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent, plus Technician, or Graduate membership of IOSH., Working towards chartered membership of IOSH. NEBOSH Diploma, NEBOSH National Certificate in the Management of Health and well-being at Work, or MSc / PGD in Occupational Health & Safety Management or equivalent.
