Wood is currently looking for a Senior HSE Advisor to join our site leadership team working on the CATS Terminal on Teesside. CATS sits within one of our key service lines within our Operations Business Unit - Operated Assets. The Operated Assets Service Line is an exciting and expanding area of our business, providing critical operations services to the energy sector - including duty holder, managed service and TAR delivery. CATS is currently one of our key assets within our Duty Holder business where we work closely with our Partner - Kellas Midstream - to deliver the safe, reliable, compliant and efficient operations of the CATS pipeline and Terminal. You will lead the HSE function at site and support the wider site team in defining and delivering our business plans, along with helping to support and shape our safety culture. In addition, you will be the site focal point for all external regulator interactions and environmental management, be responsible for emergency preparedness and overseeing security provision.

The Senior HSE Advisor will be responsible to the CATS Manager, for the provision of timely advice and guidance on all matters pertaining to Health, Safety, Security and the Environment with respect to Legislation, Company Policy, Business Management System and Client requirements.,

  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the HSSE management system and progress against the Wood HSSE Performance Standards. Make recommendations for improvement where appropriate

  • Be a member of the site Leadership team and provide HSSE assistance and advice to the Site Manager

  • Ensuring the requirements stipulated in HSSE interface documents/plans are communicated to all relevant personnel.

  • Development and monitoring of leading and lagging HSSE indicators at site to allow identification and implementation of improvements

  • Develop the annual HSSE objectives for Terminal. Monitor and report on the implementation and effectiveness

  • Planning, coordination and delivery of internal audits for the Terminal. Oversee the close out of assurance actions in a timely manner ensuring that findings are reported and shared appropriately and opportunities for improvement sought.

  • Manage the Terminal's Emergency response capability and be a member of the response team.

  • Produce HSSE performance reports as required. Chair the Monthly HSSE meeting.

  • Liaising with and building relationship with Client HSE Reps and site Safety Reps as required.

  • Manage HSSE incidents and lead / assist in the investigation

  • Be the focal point for communications with the regulatory authorities and be the owner of the COMAH Safety Report.

  • Promote and communicate Lessons Learnt within the Terminal and wider organisation

  • Promote workforce involvement in all HSSE activities

  • Be the Line Manager for the HSSE Technician and Document Controller

  • Manage any security issues and control measures, and own the contract for third-party security provision to the CATS Terminal

  • Manage the HSSE budget

    C&G, ONC/HNC or equivalent in Technical, HSE or related industry

  • NEBOSH Diploma (desirable)

  • NVQ Level 5 IOSH (desirable)


  • Job-Specific Skills:
  • Familiarisation with Oil & Gas onshore regulations

  • Good planning and organisational skills

  • Effective/competent MS Office Suite User

  • High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format
