Full Job Description

Under the direction of the Senior HR Business Partner, this post supports a professional and high-quality HR service to employees within your Directorate, the wider Society, and external stakeholders. You will be able to demonstrate that you have provided sound advice and guidance on matters spanning the full employment cycle., Organisational Effectiveness

  • Act as the first point of contact for all employee related queries, including providing guidance and initial advice to staff on the Society's policies and procedures.

  • Participate in Business Partnering meetings alongside the Senior HRBP including preparing key employee metrics, making recommendations, and tracking and actioning outcomes.

  • Managing new starter and leaver processes, including conducting exit interviews and actioning any follow up.

  • Liaise with the Payroll Manager to ensure that all payroll instructions and changes are actioned.

  • Jointly run the HR Operations meeting to provide insight and updates to the team on all areas of operational activity.

  • Management and action of the HR Inbox when required.

  • Participate and deliver on HR projects as directed and required.

  • Be a proactive ambassador for the HR team.


  • Recruitment
  • Proactively manage end-to-end recruitment for specified Sections.

  • Provide best practice advice for Hiring Managers, other team members and external stakeholders during all stages of the recruitment process.

  • Maintain an overview of Directorate recruitment activity and work with and support the HR Administrator as necessary to ensure a smooth process.

  • Ensure onboarding compliance is completed in line with relevant legislation, including Right to Work checks.

  • Support the management of probation periods, advising and escalating issues where necessary.

  • Manage relationships with recruitment agencies, aligning with organisational policies and agreed terms.

  • Update and review the recruitment budget to enable cost effective recruitment decision making.

  • Evaluate the service of recruitment providers, making recommendations for improvements where necessary.


  • L&D and Engagement
  • Engage with the L&D Manager to support delivery of the L&D agenda.

  • Coordinate with the L&D Manager delivery of Group Staff Induction for new starters.

  • Support the Senior Business Partners with the Staff Consultative Committee, coordinating the meeting and proactively anticipate arising employee matters ahead of the Committee meeting.

  • Liaise internally with key individuals, networks, and steering groups to inform content, activities, and communications.

  • Support the HR team with the various platforms such as our e-recruitment tool and staff engagement, including writing content and liaising with providers.

  • Support on recruitment related training needs.

  • Support the HR team with the wellbeing agenda and delivery of related activities.

  • Welcome new starters to the Society and provide a positive onboarding experience.

  • Provide best practice guidance and manage employee matters, in line with RS policy and legislation, to resolution.

  • Prepare occupational health referrals for employees and implement actions as necessary.

  • Review and monitor employee absence data and take proactive action when required.
