Full Job Description

The program duration is anticipated to 24 months across 2 phases:

  • First 12 months - focus on Food & Beverage operations, fulfilling the role of Food & Beverage Supervisor. You will also gain exposure & skills in Reception & Housekeeping

  • Second 12 months - focus on Event & Hotel Sales, fulfilling the role of Event Executive. You will also work on Reception.


  • The Hotel Manager will be assigned as your personal mentor, and the Hotel Owner will also have oversite & input on your development plan & assist with training & reviews. Your mentor will help guide you through the myriad of challenges and opportunities you will face during this program. In our hotel, we speak more about leadership than we speak about management. As a future leader, you need to be credible, hard working with the highest levels of ethics and personal integrity, in short, you must be an exemplar to those whom you work alongside, you are to be a role model for those that follow you and aspire to be you.

    Your program will mean that you will work across all departments of the hotel according to the business needs, whilst also completing a L3 Hospitality Supervisor formal qualification in conjunction with our external Apprenticeship training provider. This program is designed so that you acquire a sound working knowledge of all departments in the hotel.

  • Our ideal candidate will have ideally have recently graduated from university with a degree in Hospitality, Travel & Tourism or Business however, this is not essential and candidates with suitable previous Hospitality work experience or study will also be considered. Having the right attitude however will non-negotiable!

    The scheme is designed to develop ambitious, motivated and talented applicants who ideally have recently graduated from University with a degree in Hospitality, Travel & Tourism or Business and have concluded that they wish to embark upon a meaningful career in the hospitality industry. During your program, you will be exposed to every departmental discipline with the view that, upon completion of the program, you will be equipped to assume a Assistant or Head of Department Leadership role.

    We're a family business through and through - family owned, family run, with a warm family welcome for guests and team alike. The 25-bedroom family run Wisteria Hotel was taken over by experienced hoteliers Kristy Carey & Chris Newsham in March 2018. Since then the hotel has been fully renovated including all bedrooms, restaurant & bar & event spaces. The hotel has received the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice award for 6 years running, as well as Hotels.com "Loved by Guests" aware & Booking.com "Traveller Award". The hotel has an onsite restaurant & bar and 5 event rooms which are used for private dining, meetings, weddings & events, catering for dinners of up to 80 & parties up to 100. The hotel is located at the top of Oakham High Street (LE15 6HW) in the heart of Rutland, England's smallest county.
