Full Job Description

Due to a promotion we now have a vacancy for a Holmes Reader/Receiver. In this exciting role, you will support major terrorist and domestic extremism investigations for Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE).

Using the HOLMES Computer system, you will ensure that all lines of enquiry have been pursued to a satisfactory conclusion.

You will identify information that is to be indexed, cross-referenced or highlighted relating to a particular line of enquiry or other piece of information. You will update the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO)/Deputy SIO as appropriate ensuring that they are fully conversant with all the necessary details regarding the investigation.

With proven investigative background/experience of major crime investigations, you will have completed or be willing to complete a HOLMES course, and have relevant knowledge of evidence handling and disclosure processes. A confident and competent user of IT, you will be able to analyse large amounts of information and establish priorities amongst competing demands.

Due to the role requirements, it is essential that the post holder be prepared to be security cleared to DV level. Furthermore, due to the nature and sensitivity of work carried out, we require that candidates not only hold this vetting level but that they also undertake additional security clearances which include additional nationality checks. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. This is line with government requirements, supported by Cabinet Office policy and Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), and is for the purpose of safeguarding national security, to ensure that any potential vulnerabilities are identified at an early stage.

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.

Our people say that benefits include a good work/life balance, a supportive and welcoming place to work and excellent terms including a generous pension scheme and annual leave entitlement.
