Full Job Description

The Barts Pharmacy Department are looking for a dynamic and energetic individual who is ambitious and forward-thinking with clinical experience in acute and emergency medicine to join our Pharmacy team at Whipps Cross University Hospital. The post holder will provide highly specialist and advanced clinical and professional pharmaceutical services to patients admitted to the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit and acute medicine with support to the Emergency Department to promote the optimised, safe and cost-effective use of medicines.

You will be a core member of the pharmacy team and the Trust's acute and emergency care team, providing professional pharmaceutical governance, medicines safety, medicines information, medicines finance, education and training and medicines optimisation support to the team and the service's patients.

Additionally, the successful candidate will play a key role in establishing a seamless 7-day working schedule, ensuring continuous pharmaceutical support and enhancing patient care. The goal is to develop a 7 day Pharmacy service across the acute and emergency areas and the post holder, along with other team members, would work towards supporting a flexible working pattern across 7 days. This would be negotiated with the post holder.

The post holder will carry out the full range of duties as the Highly Specialist Pharmacist for Emergency Medicine to deliver patient focused, quality care, based at Whipps Cross University Hospital.

The pharmacist will provide highly specialist and advanced clinical and professional pharmaceutical services to patients admitted to the Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit and acute medicine areas under the care of Barts Health NHS Trust to promote the optimised, safe and cost-effective use of medicines. You will be a core member of the Trust's emergency care team, providing professional pharmaceutical governance, medicines safety, medicines information, medicines finance, education and training and medicines optimisation support to the team and the service's patients. You will build relationships and work with internal stakeholders and external partners to support the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care to all patients
