Full Job Description

Staincliffe is a popular, successful junior school with wonderful children and a talented and dedicated team of staff and governors. In March 2023 we were again judged by Ofsted to be a very 'Good' school.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed individual to the role of Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support vulnerable pupils and families.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Will share our school ethos and support the Christian values of our school.


  • Can undertake the role of HLTA in complementing the professional work of teachers by taking responsibilities for learning activities under an agreed system of supervision.

  • Will undertake whole class supervision including planning for and undertaking weekly PPA cover.

  • Can assist and collaborate with teachers in short term planning and the implementation of specific areas of provision

  • Can plan from the teachers' framework and implement a range of purposeful learning activities. They will also support teachers in monitoring and evaluating pupil progress and achievements using a range of assessments as agreed.

  • Will work closely with the SENDCO and work as part of the wider team, including teachers and other support staff, to support the learning and welfare of targeted pupils.

  • Will provide practical support for learning, educational activities, developing social skills, integration and for securing pupils' physical and emotional well-being.

  • Is committed to helping us nurture excellence and drive our school forward.

  • Is dedicated, energetic and proactive and can motivate and inspire our children.

  • Can demonstrate high expectations for achievement and behaviour.

  • Can establish and maintain effective working relationships.
