Full Job Description

In addition to undertaking Teaching Partner (TA) work, the main duties will be to:
1. 1. Take responsibility for leading Science interventions within the SEN department
2. 2. Prepare and develop resources for learning activities
3. 3. Monitor, assess and report on progress made by students.
4. 4. Support science teachers in delivery of lessons
5. 5. Work to achieve good behaviour in the classroom
6. 6. Contribute to the development of the SEND department as a whole
7. 7. Attend and conduct training sessions as required

  • Team player, able to maintain good working relationships with colleagues

  • Experience of working with and monitoring pupils' progress as a group

  • Willingness to update qualifications and training

  • Able to contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the SEN Department and School by attending relevant meetings and contributing to the development of policies and procedures

  • Good communication skills to liaise with parents/carers as well as students and colleagues

    NJC Grade 6 approx £19,281 p.a. starting pay

    Post: Higher Level Teaching Partner (Science)

    Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks per year)

    Grade: Grade 6 points 15-20 (salary based on full time equivalent of £27,803 - £30,296). Starting salary approx. £19,281 gross

    Contract: Initially a fixed-term contract until July 2025 but likely to be extended.

    Due to increasing student numbers, Winchcombe School (part of the Balcarras Trust) is looking for a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant with an expertise in science to join our friendly team in September 2024.

    We are a dynamic, reflective and aspirational mixed school of around 500 students aged 11-16, located on the outskirts of a historic town near Cheltenham and surrounded by beautiful Cotswold views. The school has had recent improvements made to sports, science, D&T and dining facilities and was graded 'Good' in the most recent Ofsted inspection.
