Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at our Stevenage Bakery for a Vehicle Maintenance Technician to carry out the safe and efficient inspection, service and repair of all vehicles, trailers, and ancillary equipment in line with the agreed schedules and operating procedures. This job will be full time shift work working weekends and bank holidays. What's important to us is your attitude. What will I be doing?

  • Demonstrate the 'Safety First' approach at all times. Being proactive with hazard reporting, working with VMU coordinators and FLM's to target Zero Harm


  • Demonstrate a flexible approach when moving between the various tasks within the VMU operation


  • Actively contribute to site standards and respective internal and external audits. Ensuring a clean as you go approach at all times.


  • Work with VMU Management team to ensure fleet standards are met


  • Ensuring repairs are carried out to meet or exceed the minimum standards as laid down by VOSA.


  • Carry out duties in a manner consistent with established safety, environmental and maintenance procedures.


  • Work with VMU shift Co-ordinator / FLM and Logistics team to ensure vehicle availability in accordance with delivery schedules.


  • To achieve shift KPI's by working in an efficient and effective manner.


  • To comply with laid down safety procedures, highlighting any non compliance issues to the VMU Co-ordinator / FLM.


  • To ensure the effective use of resources available to carry out specific tasks or duties.


  • To ensure that vehicles other fleet assets are maintained in accordance with Company and VOSA standards


  • To work flexibly in carrying out any other VMU duties, as required.

  • Essential
  • City and Guilds LGV Qualifications or relevant equivalent in LGV Vehicle Crafts

  • Pursue personal development goals to be the best that you can be

  • Consistently display a 'Can Do' attitude.


  • Desirable
  • Previous experienced gained in a LGV fleet maintenance operations

  • Good planning and organisational skills

  • LGV Licence C+E desirable but not essential
