Full Job Description

A fantastic opportunity to join this family run business to support the existing team and learn and develop the skills and knowledge in the Mechanics and Maintenance of Heavy good vehicles, various types of plant with works on all sites., Looking for Individual/s who wants to join a team of experienced technicians to learn and develop skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Maintenance and servicing of HGV's

  • MOT Preparation

  • Electrical and Hydraulic Diagnosis and repairs

  • Maintenance of workshop equipment

  • Changing of wheels and tyres on variety of vehicles

  • Routine inspections

  • Assisting senior technicians on daily duties

  • Learning to repair a variety of equipment from lorries, diggers, dumpers, screeners etc


  • You will be working under 3 senior technicians with over 60 years' expereince between them who are keen to pass on their knowledge and expertise and support with the 6 weekly router of HGV maintenance, MOT prep for the next week, repair any accidents and breakdowns that occur including going out to sites owned by the Company to maintain on site equipment, servive plant equipment to ensure it is ready for next hire.

    GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4) Desired
    GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4) Desired, Due to the location a drivers licence and access to own transport is preferable.

    We are a family run company based near Cambridge with 3 prominent sectors, Plant Hire, Groundworks and Aggregates and muck away. We have 30 lorries varying from tippers, grabs, beavertails and 7.5T Tippers. Over 150 pieces of plant across our yard and quarry. Many of our employees have been here over 10 years and also become part of the family.

    You could reduce your training time, or finish your apprenticeship faster, if you have relevant prior learning or experience. This could be relevant:

  • qualifications, like an NVQ in a relevant field

  • industry or sector experience
