We have an office in Chelmsford and another in Budapest, as well as expecting travel across the UK.

Role Purpose:
The Head of Technology is accountable for driving our digital maturity and delivering the technology strategy to ensure we stay at the forefront of technology. Influencing and delivery of our technology strategy, maintaining our technology services, driving continual improvement, and maintaining strong support partner and supplier relationships are key to success., As the Head of Technology, you will undertake all or parts of the following tasks (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Accountable for leading and delivering the technology strategy change programmes across the business to enable process improvements driving continual improvement and innovation

  • Accountable for the maintenance and operation of our IT equipment, software, and infrastructure

  • Accountable for managing the portfolio of surveying equipment to ensure integration into our digital processes and keeping our equipment at the forefront of surveying technology

  • Accountable for client facing digital solution development and deployment

  • Accountable for security of our technology, cyber essentials/plus accreditation and supporting maintaining our ISO27001 accreditation

  • Accountable for supply chain management and performance across our technology estate

  • Accountable for development and implementation of IT related policies, processes, and procedures

  • Accountable for the efficiency, performance and safety of the InfoTech team to beat business KPIs through performance appraisal process

  • Accountable for delivery within annual operating budget

  • Accountable for executive reporting and presenting to board

  • Lead on improvement, implementation, and maintenance of digital change management processes

  • Lead or support process improvements to drive continual improvement and innovation

  • Lead 'lessons learned' sessions and contribute to the improvement of processes

  • Provide technical training and support to employees on induction and for personal development of the team

  • Understand and lead deployment of industry guidelines and client specifications

  • Produce and maintain reports, spreadsheets and databases where necessary to facilitate the above tasks

  • You may also be required to undertake duties within other areas of the company as and when required, The role is predominately an office-based role working from our Chelmsford office with supplier, site and client visits across the UK as required. Travel and working within Hungary will be required. Travelling and working away from home may also be required.

    Minimum of 7 years technology and or IT experience

  • Minimum Level 6 qualification e.g. degree within related field or relevant experience

  • Familiarity with IT management practices, system development life cycle management, IT service management, infrastructure and operations

  • Excellent IT skills, competent in the Microsoft Office suite

  • Ability to be proactive and self-managing

  • Ability to lead and inspire a technical team to achieve change programme objectives

  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise work accordingly

  • Ability to foster and maintain strong relationships within business and other stakeholders

  • A mindset for Innovation, problem solving, exploring technology and can do to ensure the business moves forward

  • UK driving licence


  • Preferable Skills:
  • Level 7 qualification e.g. Masters degree within related field or relevant experience

  • ITIL Managing Professional Certified or equivalent

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional or equivalent

  • Chartered Management Institute Chartered Manager or equivalent

  • Association of Project Management Chartered Project Professional or equivalent

  • Detailed understanding of ISO27001, Cyber Essentials/Plus, and/or ITIL

  • Detailed understanding of surveying equipment

  • Monday.com and/or Autodesk ACC Build development experience

  • MS Azure Cloud and MS Terminal Server experience

    Salary: up to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
