Full Job Description

  • Bracknell Forest Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Service for the First Response Team. This pivotal role involves providing both operational and strategic leadership to the Children's Services 'front door'. The successful candidate will lead the planning, creative development, and delivery of a portfolio of services to ensure that families receive timely and effective support., Provide strategic leadership to the First Response Team, ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.

  • - Work with partners and in co-production with families to reduce repeat referrals to Children's Social Care.
    - Ensure statutory functions are effectively discharged to reduce immediate and emerging risks to children.
    - Collaborate closely with the Safeguarding Board and multi-agency partners to maintain consistent application of child protection and early help thresholds.
    - Work with the Community Safety Partnership, Thames Valley Police, and Probation Services to ensure optimal outcomes for children requiring youth justice intervention, aiming to prevent and reduce offending.
    - Seek feedback and engage in co-production with children and young people to keep practices and policies current and effective.
    - Manage budgets and resources efficiently.
    - Lead within a secure base model, fostering a culture where good social work can flourish and providing a secure base from which staff can work safely and effectively.

    Strong leadership and management skills.
    - Proven experience in children's services, particularly in a front-line or first response capacity.
    - Ability to collaborate with multi-agency partners and manage a diverse team.
    - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    - Commitment to improving outcomes for children and reducing risks of harm.
