Full Job Description

The purpose of the role is to lead the People teams focusing on the commercial priorities of recruiting, training, onboarding and retaining the very best people we can while managing the HR function to provide a full, professional, efficient, and effective support to all managers and staff at Charity Link.,

  • Taking full ownership and accountability of the learning and development function, including internal training programmes and management of remote-based Regional Trainers - this is likely to be the top priority and will take up the most time


  • Developing and promoting the leadership development programme and helping to develop field management leadership skills to facilitate our growth objectives


  • Managing the HR team in a way that is responsive, accurate, delivered with pace and delivered on time


  • Ensuring Charity Link meets its social, legal and regulatory responsibilities towards its employees, with particular regard to the conditions of employment and quality of working life provided to them


  • Driving initiatives to support our people, specifically driving the culture we want to foster in an engaging way, as well as driving positive mental health and EDI


  • Participating in weekly Operations meetings discussing weekly challenges and opportunities


  • Working in partnership with the operational management team to ensure effective objective setting & performance reviews. Identifying areas of improvement to support improved organisational and people performance in line with business needs


  • Guiding and coaching managers on all employee relations in line with Company policies, including disciplinary, grievance, performance and absence management. Ensuring employee relations cases are managed to meet best practice requirements


  • Managing and steering the Talent Acquisition team, ensuring a focus on net headcount growth, meaning a focus on quality rather than gross heads

    Demonstrable experience of working in a senior commercial People leadership role with strong experience of L&D (including, ideally, management of remote-based trainers and/or experience of field sales)


  • Experience of leading and motivating diverse teams


  • Experience of working collaboratively with Senior Leaders to deliver organisational objectives without any sense of ego


  • Operates with a high level of accuracy in all work undertaken and delivers on time


  • Ability to deal with complex, sensitive issues with pace


  • Ability to negotiate and influence at all levels


  • Sound, up to date knowledge of employment legislation
