Full Job Description

Shift Pattern: Full-time role, 40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 16:00 however, may include occasional weekends to cover shifts and oversee the team

You'll help us make health happen by:

  • Allocating areas of cleaning for each Housekeeper fairly and monitoring the quality of their work

  • Ensuring all schedules for cleaning, including spring and deep cleaning are maintained

  • Carrying out audits, maintaining records and performing weekly stock takes to ensure adequate supplies are available

  • Managing the housekeeping resources efficiently, minimising loss and wastage of supplies

  • Managing all housekeeping matters, you'll carry the housekeeping portable DECT phone ensuring that all calls are answered promptly, and appropriate action is taken

  • Ensuring all housekeeping staff operate equipment safely and that equipment is maintained and stored properly

  • Training new staff in accordance with company procedures and policies

  • Working closely with your Line Manager, the Sales department and Village Advisors, you'll ensure all arrivals, Richmond Retreats and sales functions are prioritised and dealt with efficiently

  • Cleaning residents' rooms, bathrooms, and all communal areas including staff areas within the village

  • Adhering to Health and Safety requirements and COSHH at all times

  • Ensuring that rubbish bins are emptied, rubbish is appropriately disposed of and that all storage rooms and housekeeping trolleys are clean and tidy

  • Remaining vigilant around the village to ensure all areas are clean, reporting all maintenance and safety hazards

    This role is a hands-on position that involves close collaboration with the housekeeping and laundry team, under the supervision of the Head of Hospitality. Key responsibilities encompass team development, scheduling, stock management, and serving as the primary contact for residents and their families. The role carries the overarching responsibility for the cleanliness and aesthetic upkeep of the retirement village's interior, as well as ensuring a safe working environment. Proficiency in preparing show suites and rooms to a high standard is preferred.

  • A background in team management, familiarity with cleaning agents, proficiency in operating cleaning machinery, and experience in a care setting would be beneficial. You should be organized, self-driven, and capable of independent initiative. A meticulous attention to detail and a sense of pride in your work are essential. Excellent communication skills are required, along with a considerate nature and adaptability, especially when collaborating with the team.
