Full Job Description

As the Group Chief Finance & Operating Officer to lead on all aspects of finance developing and delivering he financial strategy to support the Group-wide overarching strategy.

This role will act as Deputy Chief Executive and support the Group Chief Executive in leading the AUKNT Group's overall success and supporting the Board of Trustees/Boards of Directors to ensure governance effectiveness.

Acts as Group Chief Finance & Operating Officer for the AUKNT Group by strategically managing the coordination and development of the AUKNT Groups corporate functions and operational systems.

The AUKNT Group structure currently includes the Charity and its subsidiaries: Life EveryDay Care & Support Ltd, EveryDay Homes Ltd and Age UK (NT) Corporate Support Ltd.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • To review and address performance against balanced scorecards and SLT Action Plan and discuss gaps and agree on action plans to close gaps.


  • To ensure the effective delivery of the AUKNT Group's agreed business strategy, mission and vision including preparing performance monitoring reports and reporting to Boards, Committees and any relevant stakeholders as required.


  • To support the Group Chief Executive in the strategic planning and development of the AUKNT Group to ensure it continues to meet the needs and aspirations of present and future customers.


  • To engage and inspire others in developing medium term plans and empower staff and teams to shape goals and aspirations.


  • To demonstrate good knowledge of policy and market shaping factors which affect the business.


  • To tackle performance issues with resolve and empathy to develop individual and team performance, recognising and valuing good performance where it is shown.


  • To be a role model, leader and manager of AUKNT Group's staff setting and maintaining a positive culture which respects diversity, encourages initiative and enterprise and a values based approach to AUKNT Group's work and profile.


  • To establish clear accountabilities, targets and standards for individuals and teams to maintain focus on AUKNT Group supporting strategies


  • To lead on the development and implementation of the Group-wide Financial Strategy and delivery plans which reflects the mission and values of the organisation.


  • To lead on the quality of services provided by the Finance function, developing service standard targets and meeting contract criteria, establishing methods of monitoring, assessing and maintaining performance.


  • To review and monitor the progress of the Financial Strategy and advise the Executive and Senior Leadership Team on changes and updates.


  • To lead on the development and implementation of a Group-wide People Strategy.


  • To lead on the quality of services provided by the People function, developing service standard targets and meeting contract criteria, establishing methods of monitoring, assessing and maintaining performance.


  • To review and monitor the progress of the People Strategy and advise the Executive and Senior Leadership Team on changes and updates.

  • To report on the performance of the HR team plans and initiatives as part of the People Strategy.


  • To lead on the development and implementation of a Group-wide People Strategy.


  • To lead on the development and implementation of a Group-wide Communication & Engagement Strategy, and the development of internal communication processes to ensure collaboration and awareness of organisational change.


  • To lead on the quality of communication and engagement, developing service standard targets and meeting contract criteria, establishing methods of monitoring, assessing and maintaining performance.


  • To develop organisational management information systems and processes for the Group Chief Executive and Boards, including strategic plans, impact reports and management accounts.


  • To lead on Group Risk Management Framework and Policy to ensure that risk management is embedded throughout the organisation including maintaining strategic risk registers.


  • To lead on the development and implementation of a Group-wide Quality Assurance Strategy.


  • To maintain the necessary structure to ensure that there is progressive improvement in health & safety performance and that a positive safety culture is developed and maintained for both employees and any other persons affected by Age UK North Tyneside's activities.


  • To lead on the development and implementation of a Group-wide Data Security and Protection plans and policies.


  • To work in line with the Group's Policies and Procedures and Financial Regulations at all times.

    Accountancy Qualification, ACA, ACCA or equivalent.


  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent.


  • Management qualification.


  • Qualifications relevant to core functions of the post.


  • Experience of operating in a similar role.


  • Evidence of experience and understanding of most of the disciplines contained within the Job Profile, in a senior role.


  • Successful leadership in performance management and development of diverse teams.


  • Range of financial and risk management in a senior capacity.


  • Governance within charitable/Social Enterprise sectors.


  • Managing and developing a range of policy and procedures.
