General Manager

We are excited to be hiring a General Manager for our Cornish outpost. Located on historic Chapel Street in the heart of Penzance, the hotel has 17 individually decorated rooms, 2 beautiful sea-view apartments and a cosy cottage. On the ground floor the Clubhouse is a space for lounging, drinking and eating. In warmer months The Shack bar opens in the garden, operating as a bar with seafood bar-snacks.

The General Manager (known at Artist Residence as a House Ambassador) is key to the sites success, upholding our brand values at all times and ensuring that these are firmly steeped within the team culture. You will provide leadership and support to the team, ensuring a fully staffed, engaged, trained and motivated team who deliver amazing service all day, every day. Our aim? All guests can't wait to come back!

This is a very active, hands-on and front line customer facing role. The General Manager is required to be able to cover a range of shifts. Example shifts are: 7-4am Duty Manager shift, 2-11pm Duty Manager shift, alongside support led 'Swing Shifts' from 11.30am - 9pm. Must be able to work weekends.

• Hospitality experience at managerial level in a hotel or food & beverage, preferably both


• Ability to deal effectively and calmly with difficult or unforeseen situations


• Strong people management skills and experience


• Sales and target driven


• The ability to work to budgets and forecasts


• Have a strong track record of managing heads of departments, ensuring all KPI's are met


• The ability to engage and motivate others


• Highly organised with a high bar of excellence

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
